So, I fed Cricket ( my B/W gu) half of a tomato and he loved it!

ANDDD it was also the funniest thing to watch because they slide their tongue in and out of all the little chambers holding the seed goop in the middle.

I "LOL-ed".
:app :app

I had the same experience with mine, I just put a hole in an egg and let her go at it. I thought she may break it open but instead she just kept draggin the edgg out with her tung till it was gone. It too was funny to watch
Thanks for sharing

I chalk those moments up to tegu intelligence. They know how messy it'd get if they just ripped into things like that so they take it slow and enjoy their prim little meal before wiping their mouths clean and proper. :-D

I noticed when Aesop was eating in his cage that he's VERY particular about trying to not get the eco-earth in his food. I think that might be one of the reasons they shake their food so often, even if it's dead or processed (ground)---to reduced substrate intake. If you think about it, they have really narrow snouts (at the tip) that allow for very precise seizure of food/prey...

Just spitballin' here...

And then he'll go and try to bite the substrate all by itself...go figure.
