So she's been up for a couple days & yesterday I offered her a mouse b4 a nice warm bath, but she wasn't interested. She's been wandering around all day today (in & out of the cage). I've offered some orange slices/pineapple but she isn't interested. I know that she won't starve but I'd love to see her eat something. I know her system is slow this time of year so I'm not worried but I wanna know if it would be alright to leave the bowl of fruit in her cage for a while. I'm against cage feeding but I want her to eat & can't leave her out for too long. She tries hiding under the couch lol...

Nevermind, she's under the couch curled up! Can I leave her there?

Id like to give you some advice, but Im not to expirienced myself. I do leave bowls of food in her cage for a day, for my tegu. But most of the time she ignores it. She likes food fresh :p

I wouldnt let her hybernate under your couch, it could cause to many problems. Better to let her sleep in her cage.

I wouldn't recommend leaving in their enclosure any sticky foods that'll snowball with substrate should they get tossed around.

I don't see why not, I let mine free roam the house during hibernation. Boon and Quasi both have been snoozing under the office couch for a few weeks now. Just be sure to keep fresh water out for them should they require it.

I guess I should add that my house is 100% tegu proof. If the area of your couch isn't, I'd definitely follow Aardbark's advice on this one. :)

Thanx guys. House is definitely tegu (kid & dog) proof lol. I'll leave her alone.

Keep in mind we have quite a few visitors and people can view threads with out logging in.

To hibernate or brumate,.. it's just a waiting game to see what happens. All we can do is continue to offer food every so often, keep water available and adequate temps. Eventually she'll go down or stay up and eat, just may or may not be as active if she stays up.

Her not eating is not much of an issue as long as she's not dehydrated or rapidly loosing weight, since they can go months without eating. Sometimes it can be more stressful for us even though they're content.
