How long do tegus usually go down for?

I have a 6 month black and white Argentine black who went into hibernation late September and I found poke his head out today. The temperature nor the humidity have changed since he went down, is it normal for them to hibernate for a short time?

Sometimes they might come up to roam here and there or maybe switch spots or drink water but they'll go right back down to hibernate...or maybe your little one is currently brumating which is sort of a light/short hibernation...if I'm not mistaken...I just never feed them and I monitor them to make sure they're not losing a huge amount of weight and I always make sure there is water in they're enclosures for them so if they're thirsty they have water there

Brumation and hibernation are the same thing. Like hibernation in mammals, tegus will at times wake up and resume activity for short periods. Some tegus will hibernate for a several months, some for only a couple of weeks.
