New tegu mama saying hello from the Lone Star State. We just got an Argentine b&w from a local reptile expo last weekend and little Xena is still settling in. She's our first and will probably be our only lizard, as we've also got a small host of snakes (several corns, a ball python, and a boa constrictor) as well as a small gang of cats, and we're thrilled to bits to have her. Our snakes are sweet as can be but it's very nice being able to mix it up a little. Y'know, with the legs and ability to blink and all. ;)

Been lurking for about a week and I'm really interested to learn more about tegu behaviors and body language. So far I'm finding that Xena really loves kicking substrate into her water bowl right after I clean it. Nice to meet you all!

Welcome. Please post a pic of Xena. Folks are friendly here and with good knowledge bases. We all learn.

Haven't taken too many pics of her yet... figured I'd wait until she's a little more comfortable, as she still gets a little nervous when hands are moving around and whatnot. She finally decided she was ready to climb up on my arm for a few minutes today, I couldn't be more proud!

She's in a 4'x2'x1' currently, but we're planning on setting up a proper 8 footer in a guest bedroom that will become unoccupied and thus converted into a dedicated reptile room come August or September.

She will grow up to have very high contrast.
