I want a Tegu

Hello all, I have just learned about tegus. I have kept snakes and tortoises for quite some time now, and i recently got a bearded dragon but now i want a tegu. What is the advice for making a out door enclosure for my new friend, that would keep him/her happy and safe from my large dogs.

first make sure you get your tegu from bobby hill second as long the humidity is good, the basking temp is right , they have a good hide, substrate to dig through and a good diet your tegu will be happy as far as an outside cage i cant say because mines lives inside good luck

Where do you live? there aren't too many places you can keep a Tegu out all year long.

I hear they can tolerate some drops into the 50's, but you don't want them to be in sustained temps that low. Depending on what your temps drop to and the use of suplimental heating you might be alright. Bobby is in the Panhandle of Florida. I believe his are all outside. I could be wrong. Are your temps similar to the panhandle?

Atleast a 6x3x3 foot cage. I have an 8x3x3 foot cage
