I have a 13 year old Black and White Colombian Tegu named Savanna. I've had her since she was a baby. I found this site looking for "Tegus under water" which she does often for long periods of time. She recently had a little bout of Kidney stones the poor thing, but Doc fixed her up for me.

I also have 8 New Caledonian Crested Geckos, and 1 wild caught Bahama anole that hitched a ride on plants ordered from Florida by the company I work for. I'm a horticultural technician for indoor plantscapes.

I've had many critter friends over the years and love them all. Scaly, furry, feathery, and fins. But Savanna has been with me the longest.

Welcome to the site, that's awesome you've had her so long. Many people get a big lizard because they think they are cool and a year later want to get rid of them because they are so much work. Its nice tosee and as far as underwater tegus, no idea other than it's enjoyable! you mentioned she'd had kidney stones , are the long soaks beneficial as far as obviously rehydration and in turn leading to flushing of her kidneys and renal system? If you find anything out please post could be good to know!

The soaks definitely helped with re-hydration and when the vet gave her a pain killer she was able to pass the stones.
