Introducing Savs

I've had a savannah for seven months or so, he is a foot and a half in length or more. My friend recently decided to get rid of his sav so i bought it from him and now that i got them together i've noticed his is considerably smaller. I've read that males are bulkier around the tail and neck area so i'm pretty sure there different sexes. How would i go about introducing them into the same enclosure?

I've never dealt with Savs, but with my Tegus I first put them together in the bathtub. They pretty much ignored each other. After the bath I put them in the enclosure together and they were fine. My red has been down ever since, so I'm not sure if they will be able to remain in the same enclosure. You could try this but be prepared to house them seperately.

I haven't personally introduced any of my reptiles. But the way I would do it is to have them meet somewhere neutral, like the bath tub. Obviously watch for signs of aggression, don't leave them unattended. If they seem to be alright with each other after the first meeting, I would let them "hang out" together a few times a week for a few weeks to make sure things are still going smoothly. I would also plan on being able to provide a second adult enclosure if needed in case things don't work out. You'll need to have two basking spots, two hides, etc. I would feed them separately to avoid any fights over food. Good luck keep us posted!

I've put them together and there was no aggression, so i did a trial run in the enclosure and they both went and curled up in the hide. Probably a good thing i made it big so he could grow into it. I probably wont leave them together for very long, because its pretty late. I'll put them back in when i have the time to check in on them. the bath tub idea worked pretty well. =]

It sounds like they are getting along fine for now but watch them like a hawk as it will be in the future when you least expect it that you will have problems ...

I put them together again today and everything was fine. they layed next to each other under the light all morning with no aggression. After feeding them when i put them back together in the enclosure the big one started to move his head back and worth and walk towards the other. Now it seems as if he's trying to mount the smaller one. Still shaking its head though. Not sure what's going on. Any ideas?

I would guess he is saying get out of my hide or I will eat you ...

Are they sexually mature???

Chances are you won`t be able to keep them together...

I wouldnt think they're sexually mature. But i'm not sure of the ages. Normally, the bigger one is very upfront about biting things in his enclosure but he spent the last five minutes trying to sit on the other one moving his head from shoulder to shoulder. It would really be unfortunate if i had to seperate them.
