That at nearly a year, as a second owner, my tegu is only 22" long? I see you guys with 3 month olds that are 15"+ granted I don't know the condtion of the lizard prior as it was a craigslist adoptee. Is it typical? I do know he brumated for 3 months though.

My female B&W was born in the early summer of '08...

I got her at 9" when she was 6 weeks old...

She was around 20" in November when she went into hibernation...

She was around 22" in May when she woke up...

She is currently 39" which is large for a female...

So if yours was born early summer of '09 it sounds right on track with what I experienced...

well brumation and hibernation does affect the growth of a tegu, my tegu nero didnt hibernate and pretty much hasnt really turned down a meal. i got my tegu on 8/11/2009 and she was about 10" and was 5 wks old.(hatched out 6/29/2009) about a month later she was 17" and kept growing very rapidly an is now 46" at almost 8 mo. however my tegu achilles who is about the same age did hibernate and is only 19" so i guess that if a tegu brumates or hibernates they would grow at a slower rate! and you have to factor in the previous owners husbandry and care!

It does make a big difference if they burmate/ hibernate. Another member and I have the same Tegu ( a All American Tegu ). They were born 08.02.09. His didn't hibernate and is 30" long ( from snout to tail tip ). Mine are still hibernating ( since Oktober ) and they are going to be the same size when they come out. I couldn't measure them because I just had them for a few days ( in Oktober ) before they went into hibernation and they were kind of squirmy. But here are some videos of them before they went into hibernation so you can see how small they are. I'm sure that your Tegu will catch up fast now. What kind off Tegu is it ?
