Ok I know this might sound odd but I'm just wondering if my tegu is normal or if I am doing something wrong with him.
Ok so I look around at alot of other tegus and people will say "here is my 6 or 8 month old tegu" and well it is small, I've seen people say that their male tegu is over a year old and still very small compared to mine. They can hold their male tegu with one hand where it takes 3 hands to hold mine lol.

He just turned 8 months old he is little over 3 feet long and I can't wrap both my hands around him and touch fingers! He is HUGE so I'm wondering if something is wrong with him or maybe I feed him to much?

If he don't get breakfast right on time the second he feels the slightest bit hungry he destroys his whole tank! He goes nuts and stomps around like a bully climbing the walls, dumping the water, ripping the screen out of the tank windows, slams his hide box around, ect.. :doh

I keep telling him knock it off or Imma beat his :butt as soon as I feed him he stops, he's very demanding. :rant

He eats medium rats, ground turkey, chicken, liver, eggs, roaches, ect.. and some fruits! he won't touch greens and when I try to hide them in his food he turns his nose up and gives me the evil eye!

So why is he so huge and is it normal?

Thanks
Amanda

They grow at different rates, some are larger than yours, some smaller. Show some pictures. Perhaps we can shed some light on whether he looks too obese.

have you seen pics of my tegu nero? before nero dropped part of her tail she measured 46" and just made 9 mo. on the 29th. she pretty much the same as yours with the exception of roaches. i guess it is normal since they grow at a fast rate and she did not hibernate nor did she slow down much on eating. i would worry more if my tegu was still small and didnt hibernate.

Yah if you think yours is big, nero is rediculous. My gu was 20" and a year old when I got him 2 months ago and now is 32". They grow randomly and all differently. More or less props on the giant gu ;)
