Teg's started to nibble my fingers yesterday and had a couple of bites to my hand earlier and drew blood !! He's not aggressive, it's food which is on his mind ! He's just ravenous all the time !! he gets his food and a lot of it, and within 1 hour he's after more and has now started associating me with food. I am to blame really as I have been hand feeding with mice and carrying seconds to him after he's had a bellyful ! In other words he's been spoilt silly !! lol So the question is where do I start now !? Any suggestions, hopefully it's not to late ... :s

Start with bin feeding. Get a large plastic tub and put the food in it. Wearing gloves remove the tegu from the cage and put him in the tub. Once in the tub the tegu will find the food. After awhile the tegu will associate the tub with food and not you anymore. Just make sure to not add food when the tegu is already in the tub, other wise you will still be the provider of food. Also make sure to wash your hands well after perparing any food, often times they will smell the food and still go for your hand thinking its food.

Try putting gorgonzola cheese and frizzled onions on your hand before you take him out of the cage.

I feed in the enclosure but I put food in just before the lights come on so Guru doesn't see me. I haven't really had any major issues with him. I did have one tegu that was very food aggressive, sometimes I fed him smaller meals twice a day, that seemed to help a lot. A feeding bin could be very helpful as well.

Thank's everyone ! I think that's the way to go.. I'll feed him a few times a day, see how it goes !! What a spoilt Tegu :p

Sounds like a great idea, maybe some grilled bell pepper to?

Sounds great. Now I wanna bite his hand!
