keeping B&Ws together

i'm curious as to possible ramifications were i to introduce a female B&W into my males enclosure. he is about 36" and starting to fill out nicely. the female i am thinking about adopting is roughly the same length but thicker around the middle. the enclosure is 7' x 4'.

would this be inadequate for both? i'm not concerned about breeding as he does not hibernate but, i would be interested in a friend for him. sometimes he seems to get bored.

any ideas? would rehousing be necessary?

hibernation doesnt matter my 2 1/2 yr male has never hibernated & trying to mate this past few weeks
(and yes he has been dropping sperm plugs so he is able to mate)

but yes if you let them out to roam around every couple days a 7x4 would be fine, but a bigger cage would be better

There doesn't seem to be any problem with keeping tegus together. Just be prepared that if they breed and if the female lay eggs you will have to separate them.

According to Agama International the enclosure for a SINGLE adult Tegu should be at least 8' (244 cm) long by 4' (122 cm). So your enclosure is to small even for one Tegu.

If you want to house them together I really recommend to get a bigger one.

Tegus don't have to hibernate in order to be able to breed. Some people don't have a problem with having a few Tegus in one enclosure but I keep all six off mine seperate. I had two off my odest b/w Tegus together because they seemd to get along great. One day my boyfriend saw the smaller one biting the bigger one two times. He seperated them and we just don't want to take the chance of having any off them together again. We did had our two hybrids together when they were babies but had to seperate them because they are brother and sister ( but they got along great with each other ). You can try it but I would make sure to have enough room for another enclosure in case they don't get along.
