Longevity of tegus

Hi all i`m new to tegus, actually i don`t own one yet.
I was wondering how old tegus get in captivity. As i understand, they don`t grow very old, like 10 years or so.

I've heard of quite a few people keeping them for 15-16 years.

Like bearded dragons, the more we learn about their care, the longer they live in captivity.
