I was at the exotic petstore to pick up somethings today. Ive read about the Boiga Dendrophilia. I know that its venom is considered mild and its rear fanged and I noticed they were selling 3 of them for 125.00 each. It is tempting but I really dont know it its a good idea to own a venomous snake. Does anyone own one of these. I been meaning to put together A really exotic snake collection within the next few months. They sure are beautiful.

Yeah I feel ya. I do think hot snakes are by far the most gorgous snakes ever. Id love to have a green mamba too. But I know I'd never get one. I've seen viperkeepers collection on Youtube. Hes pretty good at handling hots.

If you really want to get into hots without having to worry about the venom, get a de-venomized one. I reccomend <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://venomoidinc.com">http://venomoidinc.com</a><!-- m -->

I, some time over the next few years, will be getting a snake or two from them.

I will either get one of these guys:
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://venomoidinc.com/home/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=9&category_id=2&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=35">http://venomoidinc.com/home/index.php?p ... &Itemid=35</a><!-- m -->

one of these guys
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://venomoidinc.com/home/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=20&category_id=1&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=35">http://venomoidinc.com/home/index.php?p ... &Itemid=35</a><!-- m -->

or

one of these guys
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://venomoidinc.com/home/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=13&category_id=1&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=35">http://venomoidinc.com/home/index.php?p ... &Itemid=35</a><!-- m -->

Unfortunately, the third is probably the one that I'd want most, but is the hardest to get.

I would consider a Gaboon Viper, as they can be quite docile, but even as a devenomized snake, they can inflict a nasty bite. They have the longest fangs of all venomous snakes.

They need that venom to digest their food. It works kind of like a spider...kind of turns the body a bit softer for them.

I am strongly against venomoids. I think it is completely ignorant to do such a thing. The risks outweigh the benefits for the animal. Infact there are no benefits for the animal just risks. Also, you should speak to this one guy that has been nailed by a venomoid to find out it was still venomous. Its really sad that people consider doing that. If you are going to own a hot, own it with venom and all. If you arent, step back. As for mangrove snakes, they are cool but loaded with parasites and usually hard to get eating. Some have really pissy attitudes. Though they make gorgeous display animals. Just seriously, anybody reading this forum, do not get a venomoid, its cruel and rediculous.

This may help. My opinion is bias but before you go and get venomoids you should do research on venomoids. Not just get them devenomized cause YOU want a venomous snake to be non-venomous.

Yea, I myself are completely against venomoids. It is cruel and normally will get the animal sick or eventually kill it. If you want a venomous snake, get a venomous snake, but you are gunna have to deal with the consequences if it gets ya.

My husband wants a Mangrove snake. He also wants a gaboon viper but will never own one for obvious reasons.

hay whats up all, as for Mangrove snakes thay are very fast and there disposition is very ill lol. i had one for a year as a rescue it was very well taken care of as my friend said the rescue was me rescuing him from it lol.
Beazer said it all I am strongly against venomoids. just because a snake is a venomoid does not solve the danger so treat it like it is still a hot, because if its not on paper and a guarantee from the dealer that it is safe
"dont bother" i had a friend that had a so called venomoid snake
hens i had a friend ...................

I think the heat pipes are by far the most gorgous snake ever. Id love to have a green mamba too. But I know I would never get one. I saw guards viper collection on Youtube. Hes good enough for the treatment of hots.
