Finally after two weeks I caught my Mangrove basking. He only stayed there for about 30 seconds before he decided he didnt like me around and bolted, so only got a couple pics. Anyways heres the best 2. Hes about 2 feet long and is in a 6x3x4.

Each monitor its self is going to have its own temperment. But usally with mangroves and the indicus complex their quite shy and like to run off your hands and crap on ya. This is exactly how he is. Once you get him he just slowly trys to walk off your hands and hisses a little bit. Only been crapped on once but i heard it comin so i moved out of the way. Very shy though this is the only the second time ive seen him in 2 weeks.

Ive only had him for two weeks but most are very shy and will never eat infront of you. Ive left frozen/thawed mice out for him everytime i feed my other lizards and he never touches em. Each monitor has its own personality like i said before so it all depends on the individual you get. Most mangroves are flight over fight. Most I would say get around 3.5-4 feet in males but some are up to 5 ive heard. Ya it is.

you could try adding more foliage to make him feel a bit more secure

Theres 8" of substrate so hes got lots of room to burrow and hide. Plus under each piece of wood is a few inches pf space that has the fake plants all in it. Its tricky adding much more plants on the wood.

BTW that is only half the enclosure.
