For the past couple of weeks Natsuki's becoming more active. I've noticed that everytime he steps out of his cage he scratches for a bit then goes to draging his tail and marking his territory. He'll roam around for a bit checking things out then start marking and repeat. It's expected so I didn't pay much attention to it until the other day,.. I think it was friday.
He was roaming and I sat down on the floor, he came over to me and I put him on my lap. He relaxed and closed his eyes for a bit like he was taking a cat nap. When he opened them he started chuffing, not his usual short light chuffs he does every once in a while. These lasted longer, were heavier and louder. So I'm watching him, rubbing his back and waiting for him to stop. But instead his feet grip on to my thigh, he slowly turns his head and opens his mouth about to grab a hold.
It wasn't aggressive or anything but it still startled me and I tapped him on the nose and said no. Force of habit whether he understands or not. So he closes his mouth, turns to look up at me, squints his eyes for a couple of seconds then goes back to chuffing and tries it again.
At that point I put him back on the floor and he sat there for a few seconds like he's assessing the situation and what just happened. Then turns and heads towards me chuffing again.
I got up off the floor and sat on the bed, he tried to climb up for a bit but wasn't chuffing at that time anymore. I don't know if he got distracted or just gave up because he can climb up on his own. He went back to doing his thing of roaming and marking.
Some time passed and I went to the kitchen to make me something to eat. He comes in and starts marking. Pretty much his usual self until he gets to my feet. He puts one hand on my leg and stands, I look down and he's looking up at me then starts the heavy chuffing. He goes back down chuffing at my feet and as I stepped away he was slowly opening his mouth again about to latch on.
I fed him and put him in the bath for a soak afterwards. But since then when I get close to him especially on his level he starts with the heavy chuffing and I don't stick around long enough to see how far it goes.
I don't think I've ever had a reptile come on to me before.
