So i went through all this trouble for the past couple of years getting a tegu and i ordered from bobby early this year but he didnt pull through so i looked on craigslist in my area and i found a b/w tegu the guy said hes not mean never bites and just whips his tail alittle the guy said he thinks hes a cross breed idk but to me he looks like a blue/chocoan when i got him he was nasty and he still has his moments but hes never bitten me but has gone after my hand to resolve this i put on a glove and let him bite me now he doesnt mind my hand just gets really puffy when i go in there long story short after 2 weeks of work he just huffs and allows me to pick him up and such he has been a really good find for me and i hope he gets even tamer.

On a side note I don't understand the "let them bite me" thing....doesn't seem like you're teaching them to behave your telling them just because you bite I won't leave but you can if you want...seems risky

you let them bite you and show no fear or emotion then they realize your not afraid so they back off the guy said he was a cross but he wasnt sure what kind he got him like off the market type deal

It shows you're not scared but it also shows they are allowed to do it.... It's all fine and dandy till you don't have that glove on...then what? It's not making them trust you at all to me it's stressing them out more because their last line of defense isn't working so they simply give up....my tegu comes to me of his own free will doesn't huff or puff and follows me like a freaking puppy I'd be willing to bet of you put one that "gave up" on the bed or floor with you he'd bolt the first instant he got


All that aside he's a awesome looking gu and I love his high whites to me I don't see any blue or chacoan but I've been wrong before lol

I dont use a glove anymore he knows now he comes out on his own sometimes but other timesni gotta go in there and put on my chuck norris mask lol
