Ramses is a wonderful snake. super mellow, loves my lady, enjoys being held and is gorgeous. But, He cant swim. Put him in the bath and he instantly flips upside down and proceeds to flop around. Had to save him. He is clumsy. He's long enough to stand up and easily reach the top of his tank and reach the bottom to. But instead of crawling down, he falls. He is a horrible hunter. He doesnt mis his prey but since his first feeding he has allways hit them on thier side or thier butts. He has yet to hit one on the head. My other boa is a champion at it. She is a perfect striker on every last one.

He is a great snake but hes pretty dumb. LOL! Good thing he's pretty.

Hahaha, my corn snake is like that. I call him captive-breed-retarded. When I dangle the mouse in front of him he'll sniff it for like 5 min and eventually just open his mouth, at which point i just place the mouse in there and he proceeds to eat. No striking, no coiling, just insert mouse please. :D My Black Rat, who was CH is a real killer. Its difference between the two is unreal!

Sounds more like a neurological defect that a "mentally challenged" or "dumb" snake, I think you should consult with reptile vet

Agreed^. That's a stressful situation your putting him in. I think its better to just wipe your snakes down rather than soaking them.

I only soak my lizards, and that's when they are in shed or to keep them we'll hydrated like i do with my beardies.

May have the start of stargazers.......if I recall thats what it was called many years ago. I need to read up on it. The link below says its found in Red Tails are species typically associated with the disease.

Hm. Not liking the sound of that either. Sounds definitely like a stress or medical issue. Usually I get irritated on here when no matter what unique behavior you share, everyone says you must be doing something wrong....your enclosure is too small, temp is too cold, food all wrong, etc. But in this case I'm gonna have to agree with the advice you're getting. If it were just the flipping in the water, I might say stress. But missing when striking prey isn't good. I say get that guy to a vet.
