So I was looking into finding a new herp vet today, i haven't found one in San Diego i have been alittle lax on finding one becuase i have been very lucky with my lizards so far. One of the ones i talked to was extreamly knowledgeable, he new alot about tegus and lizards in general he will admit that he does not do alot with turtles and snakes but is up front about it. His exam fees are not bad at all and his reviews locally are not bad.
We got to chatting and he said that the older lizards most likly will not need a check up unless i want to get a base line on them and to bring the new guy in once i felt he was adjusted well. I figured it would be smart to get a baseline on my two tegus before anything bad happens. He than asked a question i never thought about before, have you microchipped your tegus.
I knew then do it with hi end herps and zoo collections, he said its the same price as for dogs for the lizards. Now i have done microchipping to dogs and cats and that a huge needle. I just want to see what is other peoples thought about microchipping their tegus or reptiles in general. There could be a time in a few years where i will have to board my animals and i guess having them chipped would help elminate any ownership issues.
Again any thoughts on this.
