I was told microwaving mulch killes the bugs & bacteria ,i would think it would,i tried it & seemed to work ,mulch came out steamming, has any one else heard or do this.
i hear to put in the stove not the microwave, should be the same principal ( heat kills things). Not sure of the rapid heat of the water in the mulch gets hot enough though in the microwave... anyone else got an idea?
I'm not about to microwave (or bake) the 40 to 50 cubic feed of mulch required to change out our Tegu's enclosures. I've only gotten 1 bag with bugs in it so far in about 3 years.
lol we'll with that much mulch i dont blam ya. I dont either when ever i add a new bag i check for bugs, and then add a sticky trap. never have had a problem.
If you have a large freezer you could try leaving it in there for a few days, Or when its very hot out leaving it in a sealed trash bag in the sun might help kill of some bugs. Not sure if either would work , but it might be worth a try.
