Just rescued this little guy (or girl) and finally got around to taking a pic. I am surprised how tame Godzilla is. He's eating well, has no issues being handled and seems in good health. Sadly before rescuing him he was not housed properly so he has lost many of his toes. It appears its due to not providing proper humidity while shedding.

The first thing I did when I got Zill home was to soak him and get as much of the left over shed off as possible.

I have had experience with many types of reptiles and after spending only a week with this little guy I can see why Tegus are so special. :D

A bit more and an update on Zill. Sadly this little guy was not cared for properly prior to me adopting him/her. I have been working hard daily to ensure I have gotten all of the old shed off Zillas toes to save the ones he has left. On pay day he gets his first vet visit to make sure there are no issues from bacteria or symptoms of MBD. He has gained a ton of weight in the short time I have had him and is eating like a champ so I don't suspect other issues. His mood is great and despite Columbian Tegus being known for aggression and bad temperament he is quite the opposite. He will find a great spot to sun while watching me cook dinner or work on my computer. He will sit with me and let me stroke his back. Last night he was wrapped up in a towel after a bath and fell asleep on my chest with his head poked out while I was watching tv.

Great job, its great to see more people realizing columbians can be just as great as the argentines, his toes should heal up nicely, hope all goes well at the vet

^^^This.

That's awesome that someone like yourself opted to rescue him and take the necessary steps to ensure his health and well-being.

The toes are obvious, and I'd guess the same thing: low humidity leading to bad sheds.

It doesn't "look" like he has MBD, but without seeing him move or eat, all I can do is guess based off of appearance (I rescued a juvie Colombian a couple years back that had severe MBD) and hope that if he does have it, it's in its' early stages.

That's a great idea to get him to the vet and get everything checked out.

Way to go. He's a good looking Colombian that's found a great new home as well as someone to appreciate him.

Good luck with everything.

Congrats on the new addition.
Surprisingly that tegu looks like Zula to me, not saying that it is. Zulas owner didn't post many pics of it so there's no way to tell for sure. But here are a couple that I found.

I don't know if it's the angle or what but their faces look similar to me.
Either way that little one needs a little extra tlc :).
