My First Tegu

On Saturday I went to our local reptile store and got a b/w tegu. His/her(hopefully her) name is Kitty. so far she has been a little flighty but I have discovered that if i pet her for a moment while she's on her rock I can pick her up with little to no struggle. She seems to really enjoy being pet; sometimes she will arch her back when I am strokingg her . Right now she is 13'' and 69 grams. I am really excited to have her this is my first tegu and I have been waiting for months to finally get one. She has a yellow belly. Does anyone know if that coloring will stay or go away eventually? I will post pics when I can, but right now my camera isn't working.

i could be wrong, but I thought that the back arching showed that they were not comfortable with being pet....

funny you say that utah, i think the same thing - others seem to take it as they like it i dunno it could go both ways.

I think there are more proactive ways in showing that your not happy about something, then pushing harder into what your not happy about. lol.

I take it as a sign they like it. A lot of lizards will so the same thing with their neck when you pet that too.
