My new baby Leo!

Here's my new guy! Named him Leo.... best self bought birthday present ever! haha :) Gotta fatten him up... I'm assuming it's a male, seems to be getting some jowl action going. Any ideas? He's in his hide now so I don't wanna disturb him for more photos.

So glad I was able to snatch this guy up... I think he's around a year old? He's already eaten some crickets and I have some scrambled eggs for him if he wants to emerge from hiding, so I'm assuming since he hunted crickets down and seems pretty alert already, he should be pretty healthy.

I've taken care of tegus before at the pet store I work at (we're good, promise), so it's awesome to finally have one of my own.

Congrats on the new Gu :).

He looks good other than his mouth which could be from nose rub and a bit of calcium deficiency. Other than that would need better body pics to get an idea of the rest. In time sometimes with proper feeding and husbandry his mouth will heal and possibly go back to normal. He may appear to be physically healthy but no way of knowing for sure without having him checked by a vet. Most animals hide illnesses very well until it's a big issue and or too late. But given his current condition whether or not you do so is up to you.

Definitely! His nose thing, I'm pretty sure he was bumping into the tank he was in at the store before I picked him up, and continued to clonk it inside the tank here. I shall keep an eye on it! Thanks.

Depending on how long he was at the shop, it's an issue he was dealing with much longer than that. His bottom jaw looks longer than the top, that takes time to happen. But he's young and still growing so with more time and proper diet it can go back to normal.

Gotcha. Yeah, I can see what you mean now. He ate all of his food today with no problem and is messing his cage up like a child, so as long as he's happy and healthy I don't mind a little cute hairlip action going on. Lots of calcium for this dude!

When I first read this I thought you were talking about a leopard gecko (leo) and was really confused. Haha. Congratz on the baby! Keep pics and updates coming!

I did, too! I was thinking...oh a leo!....wait, it's in a b/w forum! hahha. Either way, he is very handsome. He does have some serious nose rub action. Looks like he took it right off, or some other complication. I think he'll do really well with your TLC!
