Well - finally got my little one somewhat calm when in water. Once we started giving em daily baths to help with the shedding, realized waters not that bad. lol Is it normal for them to slow down eating once they start shedding?

After having the little one almost a month - noticed some odd things - for starters the tongue is split into 3 instead of two and only has one "ear" - how common/uncommon is that? posting pictures below.. you can see the "ear" on the one side and not on the other. - for the tongue - cant get a good picture of that.[attachment=3541][attachment=3540]

The shedding shouldnt have much to do with the eating slowing down, its probably do to it being this time of year. As for the "ear" not being on one side ive never personally seen that before but it almost looks like its on both sides just a little differently shaped, hard to tell though

I've checked - waited til he was done shedding and checked again.. don't see the "ear" anywhere.. and the tongue - double and triple checked that - as well as had a few others check it out - and thats definitely split in 3. lol. My little deformity. I love it regardless.

I'd love to see more pictures of your little one :) sounds like despite any deformities, he's happy and healthy. He's probably just slowing down for the winter, though I've also noticed that Link doesn't tend to eat much while he's shedding either.

Could be genetic or because of incubation issues depending on where he came from. I :) would like to see that tongue though when you get a chance and happen to catch a pic of it.

trust me I'm trying to get a good picture of his tongue since we first noticed it. We thought he was shedding and realized it was part of his tongue hanging out. As we watched closer we realized why. lol. Once I can actually get a good shot I will Definitely post it. Not too sure of his history/genetics - I got him from a petstore and they couldn't tell me much.

Hahah, three pronged tegu tounge is pretty cool. As long as its not getting in the way of food intake thats a really awesome genetic deformity. I have two deformites in my household, but they'd fall under the 'really sad' category. One chahoua gecko when crazy spine deformities and neurological issues (very special needs) and a three legged crested. Baaw. :(

I love my little one regardless - and yours may have their disabilities but its good you still stick with em and take care of em.. not a whole lot of people are willing to do stuff like that ya know.
