NEED HELP FAST!!!!

someone broke the lock on the door to my reptile room today, nero has been trying to get out the last few days but the lock prevented it. and now somehow he got out but dropped a good portion of his tail! i would say about 10-12" i am really freaking out about this. my room mate called me upstairs screaming that my "big lizard got out andhistail is flopping around" i go upstairs and find the tail next to the door entrance and i found nero not to far away. i tried to pick him up but he is freaking out trying to bite me. i know i need to clean it but i dont want him to bite me i need help fast!

no i dont but i think my room mate may have an idea but wont tell me. i was just in the room more than an hour before it happened
