o today just like any other day i took my GU out of it's enclsure for some free-roam time...usually it's fine it's some exercise, i get to make it some food, everyone is happy..well today i took him out and same routine as usual but this time my gf came into the room and scared it half to death...it bolted for the corner than ran under the stove and now i can'tget it out...it just finished eating a mouse and i would rly like it if my Gu started basking a little bit...it's also bath day to help get his shed off...under the stove is very cramped and there is sharp metal sticking from underneath it...it's too big to fit correctally to i can here his stomach rubbing against the floor when he moves...i was wondering how the heck do i get him out?? the last time he hid under something i used eggs to get him out but he's under the stove and it will get too hot to cook eggs ontop of him...i really need some quick ASAP :bang :bang :bang :bang i feel so stupid for letting this happen!!!
:bang :bang :bang :bang :bang

Luring with food is a good first step... I agree that cooking while the Gu is under the stove isn't a good idea... try using egg yolk...

Using a broom stick or similar, you may be able to coax him out...

If you can see him and confirm he is not under the very back... you may be able to lift the front and prop it on something stable giving you room to reach under it...

Umm, do you have a piece of dowel, or a broom handle or something that you can stick it under the stove to push him out? You might just have to wait until he crawls out. He has to get hungry sometime..

You can also cook eggs in the microwave ;)

I'd also lock the dogs(and any other free roaming pets) in another room while you try to extract the little guy. Next time you free roam you might want to stuff a towel or something in front of the stove/refrig and other dangerous places your GU can fit. It's alot easier to prevent them from getting in these situations than it is to pull them out.

take a clothes hanger and bend it to make a hook. hook him and pull him out. or you could lift the front up and prop something underneath it and grab him.

And always lock your girlfriend in the other room when letting the Tegu free roam................

YAY!!! after 3 hours of working i finally got him out from underneath...that little bugger crawled INTO the stove inbetween the side panel and the actual stove area...it was EXTREMELY hard but finally got the panel off the side and dragged him out and HOLY CRAP wa she pissed...thrashing about and tail rattling i really would like to know why he's so angry =( i feed him well, appropriate temps heck i handle him EVERY single day but to no avail...i started fmo the basics(petting, lifting a little bit off the ground) but he's so just hostile it's rediculous...and i would not be locking my gf in a room bcuz if it wasnt for her i'd still be digging for my Gu with a broom stick...I was originally sitting infront of the stove and told my gf to go grab me a gate to put infront of the stove area, but she came back with NO gate and tried gettign into the area..and that scared the heck out my Gu and he bolted behind me then found he could fit under the stove...i would really like to understand 1st what are the charateristics of a wild caught Gu? 2nd what can i do to help get my Gu more acclimated to being handled? i hear abotu pepole saying their Gu walks right up to them from their cage but mine just looks at me like "Who the hell are you?" type of thing =(

Are you sure itÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢s an Argentinean and not a Columbia?

Columbians are rumored to be far more aggressive / less docileÃ?¢ââ??¬Ã?¦

I had a Columbian as a teenager (many years ago) and there was no way it could be handledÃ?¢ââ??¬Ã?¦ I was by no means a pro at taming lizards but it was also by no means my first reptile. I had a very docile 4Ã?¢ââ??‰â??¢ Iguana at the timeÃ?¢ââ??¬Ã?¦

Some have shared that their Columbians are fairly tame, but this seems to be the exception as opposed to the ruleÃ?¢ââ??¬Ã?¦

No offense to the girlfriend, it was meant to bring a smile :D
