From what I've learned here and from bobbies info, you feed em till they are done. As far as rodents, stay with prey smaller than their head. Something easy to eat.

Fruits but idk if you should feed him that when they are young for the crickets and.meal worms you need the calcium powder for it.

You can start with fruit and pinkies or maybe even hoppers depending on the size of your tegu right away. Korben has never had a pinkie he was started on cut up rat hoppers when I got him since it's the smallest thing I had.

Any thing you feed with out or very little calcium at this age should be supplemented with Repti Cal or something along those lines. If you haven't already checked it out,.. here's a great Food list to give you ideas.

In the beginning maybe for about the first week or two,.. I feed them every day to get an idea of how much and how often they'll eat. Depending on what you feed they may or may not eat every day since some foods take longer to digest than others.

I also watch their tummy to determine how hungry they are and how much they'll eat. Full tummy,.. no fold of skin on their sides, nice round pot belly. After a day and they poo then you'll start to see more of a skin fold develop. It's like guessing how much fuel is in the tank and how much to fill it up.

And yes let them eat as much as they want,.. they'll stop when they're done, wipe their mouth and walk away. Some will even try to cover it up.

I feed my guys half an ice cube worth of turkey a day. They leave a bit left over but its an easy way to potion turkey in ice cube trays, freeze it then put it into zip lock bags. Use calcium.
