Well, my power bill is huge and it's not even A/C weather yet. I need to find out how I can save some money with all these darn cages everywhere. I think the biggies are the incandescent bulbs...there are about a million. :yik

Which is more cost-effective for heating, halogen or incandescent?

For animals that need UV, is mercury vapor cheaper than using two different bulbs?

Any other suggestions? My corns are in a rack, all the lizards have either incandescents with fluorescent UV tubes or MVB's. The big snakes have RHP in custom cages with thermostats, so they are set. The ball pythons are in a tank with an overhead incandescent bulb.

I think I'm going to downsize a few beardies, too, since I seem to have them everywhere. :blblbl

halogen are more efficent than incandescent, as for mvb vs 2 bulbs, i would have to check with a kill-a-watt but the 2 bulbs are probably more efficient. the reptisun is about 26w and the halogen about 50 where as the mvb is more like 100-160w. Use UTH's on the nocturnals and put them somewhere that will simulate a light cycle.
