ok so i've had nero for almost 2 mos. now and his diet consisted of dround turkey w/ beef liver w/ cod liver oil and dusted with repti-cal, boiled eggs and pinkie mice so after a little trip to the market i've decided to change that , he needs more variety so now he gets a mixure of ground turkey/beef, beef liver, chicken liver, chicken gizzards, chicken hearts, salmon, codliver oil, collard greens(chopped very finely) strawberrys boiled eggs(w/shell) and instead of pinkie mice i got him two pinkie rats (they were huge compared to the mice) and also in addition to the repti-cal im getting there vitamin supplement also i tried the rats and the gizzards yester day (before making the mix) he ate most of the gizzards but was a little relunctant the rats (probably because they were alive srry thats all the store had ) but after a while he ended up eating both of them now to day im going to try the full mix ill let you know how that goes later let me know what you guys think any thing toy add would me most appreciated .

I think that as long as you are offering a health diet, mixing it up is good. Believe it or not, even these animals can become "picky eaters". I personally don't like having picky eaters.

I don't personally see anything wrong with your diet. Ill feed my monitors and Tegus anything they will eat as long as it is healthy.

I have seen and have had friends with adult 6 year old Tegus that will only eat eggs. In the long run that sucks. But, that is the result of only ever feeding eggs.

So is ground beef a good thing to use to mix up the ground meat part of the diet?if so, I may throw some in the turkey/beef liver/cod oil diet.

I'd imagine the only reason it would be a no no is because of the high fat content and the possibility of the growth hormones and antibiotics most beef producers use in beef production. I'd imagine if you were to use organic 99/1 beef you probably wouldn't have the same issues.

This is definitely a question for Bobby, Dave, or Mike. They could give us a 100% absolute answer.

Where'd ya go, PuffDragon??
