is my tegu in hibernation cause i got him 3days ago from bobby and hes only had a few bites to eat and drinking water alot and hes burrowing so i guess my question is put a little food out just incase he wants to eat cause he had one large cricket and a few bites of apples and ground beef but most of the time he either basks and walks around then burrows i would just like to know if i should leave him alone or could i stand handle him

and for temps and humminity ambian is veries from 80 to 85 depends if i have my space heater on in my room humminity is 60% to 70% i have a 10.0 uvb bulb and 150 watt light that gets to 110 115 at the spot and hes in a 6x3x3 just fyi

Congrats on your new Tegu. It's normal for the to be shy, scard and burrow a lot when they are in a new home. The good thing is that he is eating and drinking alot. Since he is still comming out to bask I would still try to feed him. But not inside the enclosure. If you feed a Tegu inside the enclosure there is a big chance that the food gets on the mulch and he eats the mulch and gets impacted. Trust me I learn the hard way when I first got my first Tegu a few years back and didn't know much about them. He also could get cage agressive. I recommend putting some food inside a big bin, get the Tegu and then bring the Tegu to the food. If he doesn't come out to bask at all for a while then I would turn off all the lights. Because he wants to hibernate. I got two Tegus from Bobby ( one last September and one in October ). I saw both of them a few times and then they went into hibernation.
