Hello All,
I got my first argentine tegu in september 2013 as a personal birthday present. He was very young could not have been more than a few weeks old. My children named him T-Rex! From there he went into a 40gal breeder and has grown incredibly fast. I started construction of his custom cage this month and finished up this past weekend. minus finishing touches. Attaching picture of the first week I got him (was full on calcium crickets, hence the belly bulge). His new enclosure in its 90% finished form and a final picture of T-Rex basking out in the new cage. Again it was right after eating a rat so he looks a bit pudgy. Really excited and happy to own him. He lets my kids pet him and even chills out with my wife's rabbit when they are out together. Figured better to socialize them from the start before he starts looking at him like a prey item lol. My previous experience has been with columbian tegus and so far I am very happy with the switch. The are both great just different it seems personality wise.

Very true. I would not want that to happen and plan to create the separation the moment I see aggression.I am used to large reptiles, had a 12 foot Burmese when i was younger. Just have to be even extra attentive when socializing. Thank you for the compliment

I had success with putting one of my old shirts with my scent in the cage.
