New rescue - Toki

My husband and I rescued our first tegu yesterday.
We have several other reptiles: a retic, a kingsnake, and a beardie.

The store owner believed he was 5-6 years old and he seems really calm and sweet so far.
We named him Toki

My question is:
We both instantly felt a calm vibe from him, do you think we can trust this? Are first impressions a good indication of temperament?

Congrats on the new addition!!! Tegu's can be calm at first especially if they have been in a bad home, kind of like a rescued dog. I would give him time to settle in and get use to the new place before you trust him at this point.

From the photo it looks like Toki might be a female? I don't see jowls but it could just be the angel. Nice looking Tegu!!!!

I was wondering about the jowls with other pictures I've seen... I've been thinking Toki may be a girl too haha

Toki was surrendered to a pet store. The clerk wasn't sure about why. I have a feeling it was a case of he didn't have the space or time, because Toki doesn't seem aggressive at all, at this point.
