Well I went on Craigslist and found a tegu up for adoption. After a few emails we worked out a deal and I went and picked up a male tegu and an enclosure.
I have my work cut out for me. ha.

The Gu (male)is about 40" inches and seems to be in good health. as far as I know I am the 3rd owner. The cage is the problem.

6x3 but the door is hardware cloth. So humidity and temp are problems. I am figuring a way to remedy that situation....you know a little bondo and duct tape and paint should be it. kidding.

He doesn't seem to have any UVB. He was indoors so heat at his old place prob wasn't bad.

I gave him a rough set up and left him alone.

The old owner fed him in his cage so he is food aggressive, I will try and fix that too. I was thinking of putting him in Blenders cage ad then getting Blender a cage more to his size.
Eventually I will build an outdoor enclosure per Bobby's design with a few upgrades aka....hot tub, Blu ray and plasma, and small animal planet pay per view.

I don't have a name for him yet, although Rucker is one I am playing around with.

Oh yeah, the cage is chip board unsealed with no moisture damage. Previous owner had him for 6 months and he was around year and a half then.

thats good its always a good feeling knowing your helping an animal that can't really help it self and its kinda funny cause reptiles in genral arn't that hard to take care of really you just gotta know what ur doing and it sickens me that people choose not to buy a uvb bulb that will prevent a huge problem well that my little Rant it angers me just as much as it does bobby thats why i always get kicked out of the mall pets stores haha

Might have a case of MBD. Not sure or if so how bad. He is now under uvb light and when he eats he will have calcium supplements. I saw a little prob with his mouth. Anyone have any ideas?
Sorry also about the poor quality I took the pics with my phone.

I hung out with him today. I took my laptop into the bathroom and laid down. He wandered around for a while then pushed in between me and the wall and went to sleep.
The previous owner named him some weird name that I cant pronounce so I think I will name him Mumbo Jumbo.

He's a cutie, I'm glad to know that someone took him in and is taking great care of him! Another great source of calcium would be phoenix worms. If you put a bunch of large phoenix worms in a bowl for him to eat, then that should help with any signs of MBD. You don't need to dust the phoenix worms with calcium either. I can't tell if he has any MBD from that picture, but if he does, then it must be in the early stages.
