I just got a three month old tegu and I've had him for the last 7 days and i can't get him to eat. He's slowly getting used to me but no matter what food i give him he just seems uninterested. His temps and humidity are on point so i dont know what the problem could be. Any help would be great, thanks

Hello,

It could be the seasonal slow down I have been reading about or he is just getting used to his new enclosure and you.
I have had min for about 5-6 months and he ate a lot until a few weeks ago. Now he eats one or two bites every other day and sleeps a lot.

He eats absouletly nothing or just very little? When he is up and about does he seem active?

Regards
Magnus

He's very active, and very inquisitive. He eats nothing.
He may not be familiar with the food you're offering or, as Magnus notes, he may just be getting used to the new digs. By all means, post a pic of the new tegu. We all like seeing tegus.

Can I guess?? Looks like a TegusOnly Florida WC!!!!! I'd put money on it. I have three from Rodney!

It's very common for tegus to go off feed for several days as they adjust to the new place. Some will even eat the first day and skip the next 5-6 until they feel at home. Will also be slowing down some for the winter.

If he's healthy, always good to have them checked out by a qualified vet that specializes in exptics, then I wouldn't sweat it. Offer once or twice each week and see what happens.
