I just bought my tegu about 4 days ago, he or she is about 9'' long it seems to be in good health and alert, my only concern's are its always hidding under a half log or underneath the bedding. plus it only seems to be eating 3-4 crickets per day, i have this little guy in a 30 gal tank with a basking light where the log is (150 wat) the cooler side i have a (60 wat) and a (uvb tube 5.0). the basking stop temp is around a 100 degrees and the rest of the tank temp is around 88 hot side and 78 on the cool side and i use cypress bedding and i try to keep it damp humid as possible. I also try to feed it scrambled eggs, super worms, pre killed pinkys, and fruit, but he only seems to like the crickets. Is there something im doing wrong or is this the right way.

since you've only had him for 4 days i would say all of this is normal. usually it takes any herp about a week to adjust and start eating regularly. as far as hiding under the mulch or in the half log, he might come out a little more after he adjusts, but for the most part they spend a lot of the day hiding. they can be picky eaters keep trying the other foods, you may have to stop offering crickets for a while if he doesn't try any of the other foods. he'll get hungry enough to give something else a try. going a couple days without food won't be horrible if need be.
good luck
