Hi! I'm Ivy and I recently rescued a tegu that wasn't properly being cared for. The poor baby's tail is broken about 4cm from the base because she was being picked up and held by it. She was only fed minnows. I've done so much research on them and did manage to get her to eat some eggs today which she loved! I'm trying the tshirt/scent trick with her and she seems to be comfortable with it. She still hisses anytime i put my hand in her tank and is always rubbing her face against the glass trying to get out. She's also a jumper. Is there anything that I need to make sure that I do to tame her or anything that I definitely shouldn't do? I want her to be happy and know that she can trust me and is safe now.

I'm pretty sure it's a Columbian tegu.

Yes, it is. Chances are better than even that this lizard will be most content as display-only.
