I know, I know, another what would you put in it thread.

So I'm going to have be building four 8'x4'x2' cages (lxwxh) and I'm going to have two empty until I can think of what to put in them. I was thinking another tegu, but maybe some other type of larger lizard?

Large snakes are a no no, parents are afraid the cats and small dog will go missing if it gets out! lol

Any ideas are welcome, even if they include a bunch of smaller cages to take up that space. All ideas welcome

I'm thinking in the large lizard area but they can't require bigger cages, this would be a permanent living cage.

Cyclura is a genus in the group Iguanidae. They are commonly referred to as rock iguanas. Most are critically endangered and you will not be able to get them. The most commonly kept ones are Cuban and Rhinoceros Iguanas. I personally would get some Cyclura lewesi hybrids "Blue iguanas." Be sure to do your research first.

or devide them up for dragons/uros

or a basalisk and leave the tank full size with a HUGE water pond just to see them run on water on two feet :) I cant get over that lol

Sounds like a good opportunity to build stacking cages ;)

Rehab, that actually exactly what I'm going. I wouldn't have room for four 8'x4'x2' and a 8'x4'x4' all in a 12'x10'x8 room! I'm barely going to have room as is lol

I was thinking of a Gold tegu but I'm really not sure, I may end up getting one of Bobby's Extremes if Tux can work out the shipping and everything. Who knows maybe four tegus isn't a bad thing lol I'd be buying food in bulk like Bobby.

Keep the list coming though :)

cost would very on what material you use and how you build it. thats all i can say without knowing the look inside and outside you want. i am a journeymen carpenter wood working for 13 years and i built mine, it took about 4 hours and cost 450-500 bucks but i used very expensive molding that was 1.50 a foot. you can find molding for like .35 cents a foot if not cheaper. the plexiglass is expensive to so depending on the size of your doors and how much you need will matter. i think to plexiglass my enclosure was 70 bucks. anyways i would draw a few designs on paper and plan on how you could build those designs and figure the most cost effective way..good luck

This is my supply list for 1 cage. The ones with " X " beside them I have purchased.

4 - 8'x4'x1/2"
7 - 8' 2"x4" X
1 - 8'x6' lino sheet X
2 - 8'x4' corrugated plastic sheet
3 - Acrylic Silicon Tubes X
1 - 1" wood screws X
2 - 3" wood screws X
2 - large hinges
2 - 4'x 14 1/2"x1/4' plexi glass sheets
4 - locks of some sort

200W light dome
4' fluorscent tube fixture

X = $79.35

All of which is in CAN $, I do plan on marking it all out though to see the total costs for everything. I also will need to buy bedding and a MVB for each cage.
