Picked this Savannah Monitor up at the Charlotte Repticon. Was a little dehydrated, but well fed and active. The colors, though. I've never seen one this big with colors like this.

This is actually a terrible picture of him when it comes to showing his colors. I'll try to get a better one at some point. More importantly, I'm feeding ground turkey right now, but he's turning his nose up at it. He's 20 inches long, is there anything in particular I should be feeding?

Chances are he would turn his nose up at anything .. Let him get settled in and put food in front of him ... maybe try a mouse ???

It's definately a Sav from what I can tell. It's just got some pretty vibrant colors. Looks photoshopped, but it's real. Also, can savannah monitors eat ground beef? I've heard of feeding them ground turkey, but not ground beef. It won't be for long, just until I can get large grasshoppers.

i haven't fed my tegu or savy beef because its got a higher fat content. savys are more prone to obesity. i think a lot of savy owners prefer to keep them on a strict insect/rodent diet, its more natural for the sav.

Well, he's about 20 inches long... So what insects would I be feeding? Superworms are readily available, but what else for something his size?
