yes i have had them, they are ok i like blue tailed monitors better a little less skitish they need large cage high wide and long they will climb as well as pace floor and dig and swim. can get tame over time males get bigger then females around 3ft snout to vent females around 2 ft s to v. eat mice any kind of cooked meat occ. egg some fish. cage for 1 adult male minunium cage id go with 8ft long x 4ft wide x 6 ft high big water dish he could fit in. room sized cage would be better.
Hey, yeah, what argus said lol. They need a huge cage that most people dont have room for. As far as the handling, I really wouldnt suggest it. Though they are cool and my friend had one that you could stick your arm in and it would slowly climb up (the only jobie I've seen do that). But most people I hear that own them, mention them as an animal not for handling.
They are my favorite out of the indicus family (other than yuwonoi) but the only thing keeping me from them is not having room for a huge cage. A huge set up though, would make an awesome display.
My friend has two breeders. He's one of the only people in Canada with them and he doesn't really like his. He likes them in the sense that they aren't easy to come by here and that he'd like a breeding project, but the temperment is terrible. His are just really skiddish and quick to bite.
But I'm sure they would ease up, he just doesn't spend time handling them.
