Pet Insurance for Reptiles?

I have searched far and wide for an insurance company in the United States that covers reptiles, and my search didn't yield many results to choose from. I did find one company, Nationwide, that might insure tegus, as they have "lizards" listed in their exotic pet coverage and tegus are lizards. I'd have to call them to find out though, and I'd feel silly asking about it because I don't actually have a lizard to be insured - I just want to make sure I know where I can get pet insurance when I do get my tegu.

Does anyone here know of any more places that would insure tegus in the US? If you have insurance on your tegu, how much money does it cost a month for the plan you have them covered with?

I'm using VPI (which is now owned by nationwide). Haven't had to use it yet but my rate is $84 / year.
I'm about to file my first claim with them so I'll let you know how that goes... My only warning is to do it early as all pet insurance companies have a pretty bad reputation for considering anything remotely related to a previous vet visit as a preexisting condition - Again I insured Loki as soon as he was eligible so I have absolutely zero first hand experience with that.

I like hearing testimonials from people who use their services since there's not actually much info about reptiles on their website, so thanks for responding! Definitely would appreciate being informed after you file your first claim! Out of curiosity, do you know what all your plan covers? Like, does it only cover vet exams and prescriptions or does it also cover surgeries and X rays?

$84 / year is pretty comforting though, the cheapest quotes on nationwide's website are WAYYYYYY way more expensive than that and only detail what procedures are covered for cats and dogs.
