Hi ive had my tegu for about a month and at first it was eating great but now it seems to be slowing down on its eating, i notice that just other day that the humidity in the cage was horrible at a law of 15 and a high of 45, taken over the month ive had it, now i have raised the humidity in the cage, but what i wanted to know was if the humidity could affect the tegus hunger?

He is just slowing down for a while I would bet .. All you can do about the humidity is bring it back up and give your tegu in a warm bath if he should come out and let you handle him ..

Hibernation has nothing to do with cage temps. Some say its the barametric pressure changes or even day lenght (lets face it a cage still shows some sign of natural sun light at times). Its not sure what hints that its time to hibernate but tegus all over in captivity are starting to slow down. Not much really you can do, just got to let them do what they are gonna do.

Makes you wonder doesn't ?? By all rights their internal clock should be 100 percent backwards being from south America ..So even with your controlled environment there Must be something we cant measure that they use for hibernation ...
