Prolapse rectum on Gold Tegu?

Just got new Black and Gold Tegu from trade show. First time with these lizards. He has something that looks like a prolapsed rectum or lower intestine protruding from his vent. It's about an inch long and pink but not red or bleeding. Anything I can do before Vet opens? Any experience with this?

Try and keep it moist and wait for the vet to determine if it is a prolapse but it would help to see some pics.

Checked on him this morning and it went back inside and he seems to be his old feisty self. Probably have him checked out anyway. If it happens again will post phone pics.

If it happens again, dissolve as much sugar as you can in a shallow bowl of warm water and soak the prolapsed tissue in it for about a half hour (this will contract the tissue and allow it to fit through the vent). Then take a moist Q-tip or probe and gently push the tissue back into his body. I highly recommend taking him to a herp vet because when he dragged his bowel behind him it likely collected bacteria (he needs antibiotics) and to find the underlying cause of the prolapse (they usually happen because of a medical condition).

Does it go back inside the vent or does it always stick out ? How old is he ? If he is older the males have some hemipenes hang out when they go to the bathroom. When they do this they also leave some white strings behind ( spurm plugs ). They do that when mating season is.
If it's a prolapse than what you are talking about will always hang out. Here are some infos for you about both ( hemipenes and prolapse ). Hope that helps. Good luck and please keep us posted. Thank you.
