Quail in a can?

I've seen a lot of threads lately that mention substituting quail eggs in your gu's diet instead of chicken eggs. Unfortunately, after extensive searching I have found no locations in town that sell fresh quail. However, what I did find is that our local Asia Mart sells canned quail egg. I don't know about any of you, but I've never heard of eggs in a can so I must say that I'm a bit skeptical. The can doesn't say that it's pickeled or anything like that, but I wonder what kind of preservatives must also be in there? Your guess would be as good as mine tho, as 90% of the label is written in Korean...

So, has anyone ever heard of such a curiosity? Would you feed you even consider feeding canned qail eggs to your gu? Let me know what you think.

Thanks! :)

Unless you can have someone translate what is in it or figure it out on your own, I would pass.

Wow, speedy reply. Thanks James! I even asked the store clerk who was there at the time, but she was Japanese and didn't know for sure either! :-/ I suppose it shall forever be a mystery.

I can't vouch for them but I'm considering ordering them off amazon as I can't find any nearby suppliers

Again not sure how that comes out with shipping but .50 per egg doesn't seem too bad

I have purchased the quail eggs in the can . They are packed in salt water. Keep rinsing them to get the external salt off .

Hit your local Asian market and ask them to get them in. I remember paying 3.49 for 18 eggs. And I still complained because they are just so damn tiny. They are about the size of the average mans digit on his finger, yea , that small.
If you look there is a place ( don't know where the link is) that sells them seasonally by the multi dozens on the cheap. Alot cheaper than i can buy at the markets but too many more than I would use at any one time. But now i found people y me on the site so splitting the costs are possible. I will look up and post the link when i find it
