Question about heat emitters and aggression

Bumblebee has had no aggression since I got him until a couple of days ago. For a couple of days now when I would approach his enclosure he would jump at the front with his mouth open. I'm pretty sure he wanted to bite. He would pace back and forth and continue to jump at the front. I would eventually get him out and feed him. He would then be fairly OK, but would still roam like he was on a mission and not want to be picked up and still a bit nervous. I was thinking what am I doing wrong or what is different?

Then I realized I put a ceramic heat emitter in his enclosure when the temps dropped into the 50's. He was fine for those few days. The temperature has risen since and I still had the emitter going. The surface temp never went above 90 in the area. His enclosure temps are rangeing from 104 in the basking area to mid 80's to low 90's. Everything is off at night and is dropping to about 76 to 78 degrees.

Yesterday I took the emitter out and today he was back to his usual self. I opened the enclosure, was able to pet him and lift him up. I took him out. He has been a perfect gentleman. He ate like a pig and was back to his more relaxed roaming and being his regular self.

My question, as rediculous as it seems, has anyone had any trouble with heat emitters and aggression. If not what do you think it could have been?

Thanks for any input,
Dave
