Question for tegu owners

Hey everyone, so just curious. We spend a lot of time with our tegu Odin. We have seen him transition from a fearful tegu to a flighty but tolerating tegu. I know it is different for each tegu but how long did it take and how old was your tegu before he or she started not just tolerating you but actually liking your attention? Or even showing you affection and trusting you?

Hehe I was just asking this question myself. My tegu Ive had for 4 months now. She too has gone from fearfull, to flighty, to tolarant. Right now she is very tolarant, but still not afectionate. Im still waiting for her to start being friendly.

Sounds like you are making good progess. It starts to get fun when they stop hiding all the time and start coming out being curious in their cage. :)

I have to say its all in the tegu, fr example i have 2 tegus, same age and size, i have had the the same amount of time, used the same taming method on both(ignoring them when freeroamings) now my male, storm, has become very friendly and will often sit in any availible lap he can find to get a head scratch, now my female, rayne, on the other hand is very tolerant of me only, but will not just walk up to me and be friendly, they are only yearlings so over the next few years she will eventually come around(i hope lol)

Sounds like you have yourself a good pair of tegus. Love the names btw. And what do you do with the ignoring while freeroaming? You have to have a leash or something right? Now I'm sure it is easy since yours are so big now they can't hide anywhere but ours being little we take him out on a leash in the living room and sit there but we can't let him hide in all the cracks he can get into
