Hey my tegu dragonfly is hibernating right now so I havent even had a chance to feed her yet. Just a quick question, someone told me to put calcium w/d3 on their food 3 times a week and calcium w/o d3 on their food for the rest of the week. Just double checking to make sure thats how much to put on. I also have a multivitiman I was planning on putting on once a week as well. Thanks!

There is no hard and fast rule for D3 and what you are doing is as right as anything ... Personally I would cut back the D3 to once or twice a week and the vitamins to once a week ..

You should have a UVB light, and therefore d3 in the calcium is unessecary. With my tegu I use the pure calcium. Also, you don't need to add calcium or vitamin supplement to food items like mice or rats(they are whole animals, so they are nutritionally complete for a tegu) just to stuff like turkey, fruit, etc. But yeah.. If you want to use some d3 along with the UVB lighting it should be ok as long as it's not too often. They can overdose on it. I think the three times a week would be too much.

I have a uvb light and everything. I havent started using the calcium yet, I just had a bunch of people tell me a bunch of different things so I was confused on how much to put on.

So if I did a multi-vitamin 1x a week
D3 supplement 1x a week
and calcium without d3 the rest of the week (minus days when I feed pinkies / fuzzies)

Does that sound about right?

That is what I would do ..The calcium with D3 was made for albino and other specialty reptiles that can`t get their D3 from the sun [or light ] If you can get your Tegu out in the sun [with a screen top [not glass ] That will do more than any D3 supplement..

I would dust my pinkies and mice too . Especially the pinkies that don`t have the bones that the more mature mice do .. Growing Tegus need calcium and if I am going to have calcium problems it will be from too much and not to little ..
