I thought he might have been a lizard houdini but it turns out he broke the plexiglass on the side of the enclosure. It's still locked but its in 3 different pieces. I will not use plexiglass for anything I build.
I put out a light and I'm thawing some chicks for him. He looked alright from what I could see. He was laying in the sunlight but saw me and booked it behind the enclosure (of course). I didn't see any blood or anything, hopefully he didn't hurt himself. :(

I believe it was 1/4", I'll look for my tape measure though. After I catch him I'm going to replace it with a piece of wood. Hopefully I can get the help to build the new one.

Do you think he just rammed it, or could something in the encosure have fallen and broken it? I'm also curious as to the thickness.

Ah, ignore the last question. I see where you just posted the answer!

It looks like he rammed it. It splits 3 ways in the middle and then shoots top to bottom. Ill get a pic when i replace the side in a couple hours. I know its at least 1/8 the previous owner had 1/8 but it cracked so he put a thicker sheet on it. Do they make 1/6? Lol.
Im not familiar with plexi but i did read that its easier to bend and break when its cold, it was pretty cold this morning

I finally got him back. He spent the day wedged in between the garage wall and a shelf. He was in the same spot all day but I was unable to get him until my boyfriend got home. Rango decided to hide behind behind a giant bag of cement mix that was left here, which I was unable to move because of my injury.

I don't know what I was smoking, the newer pieces I used to replace it are 1/4. I don't want to replace it with more plexi ATM, I'm working on building a larger enclosure to use instead of this one.

He must have had a loose scale or something, I went to take a peek and he's bleeding on the top of his snout.. :-( I feel bad!

That entire scale is gone now. He is finally back in his enclosure and im positive there is no more escaping. He only has one door with 1/4" plexi and the rest is now all plywood. I hope his nose is ok im worried he might get an infection somehow. Ill get a pic when they wake up tomorrow.

Iodine and neosporin is what the vet recommended for any cuts or scrapes.

Neopsporin WITHOUT the pain relief.

Hope that helps =0)

Link got a nasty nose rub while we were moving, and he lost a scale on his nose too- I definitely second the neosporin. Just keep the wound clean and everything should heal nicely. He doesn't look like he's injured badly.

Hes fine other then the scale. I left to go to hime depot and when we got back his scale was gone.. It didnt look like he was going to lose it so i was very surprised. Sorry to hear about links scale, do you know if the scales grow back? Ive never had this problem before. Looking at the scars on the hybrid makes me think they wont :(

I'm pretty sure they do actually. I think it just takes a while. Link clearly lost a scale, and it looks like it's growing back in after a few weeks. At very least I can't see a scar. I think the areas that scar more easily are places like the tail, where multiple scales are being affected by something like an animal bite. (I'm sure you've seen the bites/scars some reptiles get from irresponsible owners feeding live rats, for example)

Just wash the wound daily, and re-apply the neosporin each time, and chances are that it'll probably start looking much better within just a few days.
