Hi all,
Well, my tegu Zeke will be 3 months old on the 28th, and im having some problems. I have owned 2 other tegus before, but neither of them were as small as this one now is, so i dont know if its just me thinking theres a problem or what.. see, Zeke doesent eat much at all... now he is only about 11 inches long and he only weighs a tinyyy amount (i forget how much exactly, but hes very small) anyways, he hardly eats at all. I offer him food every single day, sometimes twice a day, and he takes a few bites, and is done. he will only eat about 4 large crickets and hes done. or 2 bites of turky, etc etc. sometimes he wont eat at all.. another thing is he sleeps a LOT. every time i look at him hes got his eyes closed. when im holding him he sleeps (when hes not trying to escape) (see hes still very skittish of me) anyways, i have been trying to get him an appointment at a vet, and the only quality vet that i trust, is booked for weeks. so In the mean time, i want to try Reptaid or Parazap. I am leaning more toward Reptaid, because it claims to cure more problems. Parazap is just for parasites from my understanding. I just want to know if any of you have tried any of these? they are natural herbs and made of all natural ingredients, so they wouldent be dangerous to try. i just dont want to waste $25 on something that isnt going to work or change anything. So if any of you have had experience with these please let me know how it worked for you.
Here is my care/enclosure info:
ive had him for 2 months, he has been like this ever since ive gotten him.
he has a 40 gallon breeder tank.
hide, water dish, plants, ceramic tile, and a log are his enclosure things.
his substrate is cypress mulch mixed with eco earth
i mist every morning and its a constant 50-70 % humidity
he has a brand new reptisun 10.0 UVB bulb
his ambient temps are about 78 degrees, with a basking spot of 100-105.
every day i handle him, and usually give him a bath after our handling session. he always poops in the bath, but its not very much, because hes not eating much.
thats all i can think of. let me know if you have any experience with Reptaid or Parazap please and thank you :)
