Rescued a tegu help please

Hi I have recently rescued a male tegu can anyone tell me how old they think he might be please he seams very laid back but not to sure on his temperament yet any advice would be greatly appreciated

Well, at one year, male can/ should be 40" +/-. Jowles take longer. My semi-educated guess is between one and two years old but bear in mind all kinds of factors can confuse the issue.

Ok brilliant thanks also I have had him for a couple of days now and he is feeding well so far but he goes in his hide at about 8 in the evening and then does not come out till sort of 1 the next day is that normal for them

He was out yesterday but now he won't come out of his hide but has eaten off a spoon out the entrance of it then gone back into sleep is this normal

Yes, they do this when they are adjusting to the new environment. Kind of a shy, reclusive thing. My boy looks very similar to yours overall ( except for being a black nose) & he is right around a year old.

Thanks for reply he came out today but not till late afternoon then decided to trash the viv as I wasn't no but when I came back he was still out basking so let him out for half hour and he seamed fine little nervous but was fine when I picked him to put him back in no tail whipping/struggle or noise from him is there any thing I should look out for to tell what his mood is like

Familiarity of their place and routine are important and will take a bit to settle in to it.
