Hi . It seems to me that you killed it by leaving your responsibility with your parents ... LLL reptile has water monitors for a hundred bucks ..... Winter Well...

That sucks but howd they manage to kill it that fast? Savannahs take a beating even with improper husbandry. I would say though, really read up on the savannahs or any other monitor you are interested in before buying and make the cage ready for a few days before hand. Best of luck on your decision, just make sure you really look at other causes.

actually i think he might have had an impaction i fed him in his cage...that was before i saw the idea of feeding in a tub,and that and my parents always turning my lights off>.> .and he might have had something from the pet store cuz thats where i got him. id didnt have him that long either.but i tryed everything i could to make sure he wasent impacted i bathed him often and fed food in a dish.but i been reeding almost impulsively on savys because i really want to give it another shot.im gonna spoil that thing rotten lol

Honestly, ive owned savannahs, and they are my least favorite and some have good tempraments, but alot dont have good tempraments, its really hit or miss. asian water monitors are THE MOST docile monitors from what i know, i owned one but not for long i guess i got it with parasites or something. vet couldnt help it i guess. anyway, asian water monitor if you have the room for it, are really amazingly calm for the most part, but also if you can find one, ive heard lace monitors can be very very docile as well, and are very beautiful. i couldnt find one in the states when i was looking for one, maybe youll have better luck. look up "lace monitor" on youtube, you can find some aussie guy who has one and posted alot of videos. his is like a puppy.

Water Monitor is a HUGE spec. Nothing to do with exanthematicus .
He's "docile" but his size make him potentialy dangerous. Some grow to 50kg and more.

Lace cost more then 3000$ a baby, and there's no one for sale. Not the same as a Savanah.
