hello , I'm currently a new owner to a savannah monitor I recently purchased a few weeks ago from my job and I know your suppose to handle daily I currently own 2 iguanas and a bearded dragon so it's the same process as far handling goes . But the way I have the monitor cage setup he hides in his hole which is perfect for him but it's a struggle to get him out and I don't want to just break it and then he doesn't have any place to him under except his water dish . I need tips on approaching this one. It hissing and has bitten me once (doesn't hurt at all) but I didn't back down from it and don't want this to be going on forever please help.

Keep working with it. I have kept several savs and all ended up being good lizards, just keep at it. Try working with it in the bathtub, put just enough water in so your sav has to swim then put your hand in the water when it gets tired it will crawl on your hand. Trust will start there, good luck
